Polyflor SA recently helped to warm the hearts of 100 underprivileged pre-schoolers attending the Warmbron Pre-Primary in Ou Dorp community of Montagu, by installing 250 m2 floor free of charge and expertly fitted by Mr Charles Davids, technical manager at Polyflor SA.
“Our school was established in 1980 to render an early childhood development (ECD) programme to the poorest of the poor children aged between 1 and 5 years in our community,” explained Mrs Dinah Pekeur, Principal of the school.
According to Pekeur, the school’s programmes support children in need to have access to effective, efficient, holistic and integrated ECD services, which address their cognitive, social, physical and nutritional needs, while also keeping the children safe and off the streets.
“We currently have sixty children who all receive social grants from the State. Their parents have very little to no income and can therefore not afford to pay the school fees of R60.00 per month. This obviously places a huge financial burden on the school. There simply are no funds to beautify or improve our school. For this reason, we are hugely thankful to companies like Polyflor who are willing to support our efforts. Our school now looks neat and new and all the children, parents and teachers are deeply appreciative for what you’ve done”, Mrs Pekeur concludes.
