COVID temporary facilities are a massive focus right now.

Polyflor provides critical advice and services to the architectural, design, construction and contract professionals in the African market.

This is a complex project management process across all the stakeholders involved in a project. All too often, problems arise.  Issues with incorrect specifications, measurements, products, installation and countless more.

Through decades of fielding questions and first-hand experience, problem solving and solution seeking, we have learnt priceless lessons.

We have a solution for a problem you may not even know you have.

This week we explore COVID temporary facilities.

  1. These facilities are having to be constructed in record time, under immense pressure.
  2. They often use less conventional building methods such as dry wall partitioning or Iso board walls.
  3. Facilities may be temporary, on a wooden substructure.
  4. Buildings may need to be repurposed at a later stage, needing flexibility (Flexibility in healthcare was one of the leading topics that came from SAFHE/CESA conference 2019)

What are the solutions?

Have you ever considered that wider vinyl sheeting requires less joins?

With 40% less joins not only do you reduce the risk of failure but also the cost of welding and labour and almost more importantly the time required to install the sheeting.

With Modular Construction, the floor to wall junctions are crisp and clean, using our MC210c or MC18c set-in-hospital skirting will not only be hugely cost effective, but it is hygienic and much faster to install. If installed without the PC20 Cove fillet, it will render a 90-degree finish, allowing for internal partitions to be retrofit and removed later (creating a flexible internal space)

Modular construction fabrics such a dry walling and Isoboard poses issues in terms of the traditional ceramic tiling. Vinyl is an excellent substitute to ceramic tiling in many areas such as bathroom walls and sluice walls.

We have a wide selection of wall protection solutions to meet the needs of your space.  Gradus Wall Protection Systems are designed to reduce life cycle costs and improve the overall appearance of an interior but are hygienic too.  The wall cladding system offers excellent surface protection, creating an impenetrable barrier to moisture and bacteria, along with resistance to impact damage.  Our Gradus SureProtect Pure is the ideal answer to splash backs!

Full bathrooms, showers, and wet rooms in vinyl can be achieved on a carefully constructed wooden substrate. If the building needs to be restored at a later stage, a temporary vinyl installation can be done on both a concrete or wooden substrate.
