Through decades of fielding questions and first-hand experience, problem solving and solution seeking, we have learnt priceless lessons and no doubt, have a solution for a problem you may not even know you have. This week we continue to explore alternative building methods and in particular, look at wet areas in fast tracked new structures.

We have a solution for a problem you may not even know you have.

Wet areas, in particular, pose a number of risks and installation challenges:

  • Difficulty adhering conventional products such as ceramic tiles to "fast track", flexible substrates
  • Slip risk for staff and patients
  • Waterproofing

Bathrooms and Sluice areas

We recommend a “fully clad” vinyl solution of a seamless, non-slip floor covering, specialised vinyl drain and vinyl wall cladding, particularly effective for bathrooms and sluice areas.  This creates a “tanked” bathroom environment, ensuring a high level of hygiene and ease of maintenance.

It is important to consider the slip resistance of the floor covering in these areas to avoid any unnecessary slips and falls.  Ideally you want a product that achieves a 50+ rating (RPL Pendulum test) conducted in wet conditions.  See Polysafe Quattro PUR

The vinyl on the floors should be coved up the wall and welded to the wall cladding to form an impervious surface, preventing any dirt or bacteria from accumulating on the surface.

Vinyl is easy to install on alternative building structures such as Isoboard, dry walling and flexible sub structures such as Marine Ply, making it a fast and economical alternative to ceramic tiles.
